About

Nancy Weisser is an award-winning multimedia artist with a focus on glass since 1980.  She has created many artworks for exhibitions and private collections. Recent works include large scale installations. Nancy was recently honored when awarded placement in New Glass Review, an annual international publication by the Corning Museum of Glass highlighting the past years 100 top entries of glass art.  Nancy is known not only as a skilled and distinguished artist, but also as an outstanding educator and entrepreneur.  She owns and operates a successful glass business that includes a gallery, a teaching studio, supply house, and artist studio.

Nancy was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, the fifth child of ten.  Her father was a skilled draftsman and he shared his love of the arts with his children.  That’s where her passion for art began at a very young age.  She studied fine art at University of Pittsburgh and Studio Arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Shortly after moving to the Washington DC area in the late seventies, Nancy began working with glass.  She has continued her studies of the arts over the years in a variety of disciplines with many well-known artists.

Nancy has been teaching the art of glass in her Kensington studio since the early eighties. Nancy teaches all levels from beginner through advanced, sharing her years of experience, insight and skills in the arts and glass making processes.  She has sponsored student shows and mentored former students as they move into professional careers in the art glass field.  As owner of Weisser Glass Studio, one of the original teaching studios in the area, Nancy has made a substantial contribution to the dynamic growth of the Washington glass community.
